Travel Tips

More Travel Tips…

When packing ensure you have outfits for very hot sunny days and icy cold starry nights. In the day a hat without a doubt, sunglasses and a strong SPF sunscreen! For the evenings a windproof jacket, beanie or ear warmers and perhaps a scarf.

Tips for the ladies; there’s sand everywhere, all the time so pack a pair of ankle boots or slippers for after your shower to ensure clean, sand free feet for bedtime.

Water will be scarce whilst we’re camping in the dessert so plan your hair care routine, dry-shampoo if that’s your thing, French plaits or a few of your favourite hats.

Consider quick drying towels and warm bedding.

Make sure you know your rig, if you are hiring a vehicle, practice setting up your camp at least once before heading into the dunes.

Avoid packing glass bottles or containers unless they can be securely fastened, all the humps and bumps during our first 2 days driving tend to shake things about.

Insulated travel mugs are a great accessory! Keep it hot or keep it cold!

Don’t forget your chargers and check you have enough ports in your vehicle for charging. You will also need to have a spare car cigarette lighter / auxiliary power outlet for your 2-way radio.

Many days lunch will be whilst we’re driving through the dunes, sandwiches are a great option as well as snacks like biltong, dried fruit and nuts.
